
Chinese tech giant Huawei has released its latest Mate 80 series smartphones, which are equipped with its self-developed HarmonyOS system and Kirin chip, resulting in a significant price reduction across the entire series.
Huawei held an online new product launch event on Tuesday (November 25th), with the Huawei Mate 80 starting at 4699 yuan (RMB, the same below, 861.6 Singapore dollars) and the high-end Mate 80 Pro Max starting at 7999 yuan. Compared to the Huawei Mate 70 series launched in December last year, the regular version is reduced by 800 yuan and the high-end Pro Max is reduced by 500 yuan. On the same day, Huawei also released its high-end folding machine MateX7, priced at 12999 yuan.
The new device is equipped with Huawei’s self-developed HarmonyOS and Kirin series chips. Huawei did not provide much introduction at the online press conference, but it is stated on the official website and offline introduction that the Mate80 Pro series is equipped with the Kirin 9030 Pro processor, while the regular Mate80 is equipped with the Kirin 9020 chip.
The “Kirin 9030” once topped Weibo’s hot search list. A tech blogger said, ‘Huawei’s bold statement about chips this time shows that they are really not afraid of being choked by the United States.’. However, some people also believe that the biggest highlight of Huawei’s new phone is the price reduction during the Chinese consumer downturn.
When the Mate 70 series was launched last year, Huawei did not publicly disclose the processor specifications. The dismantling mechanism found in subsequent dismantling analysis that the standard version Mate 70 may use the 7-nanometer Kirin 9010 chip, while the Pro version uses the Kirin 9020 chip.
