China Leads Development — World’s First International Industrial 5G Standard Officially Released
CCTV News reports that reporters learned today the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has officially published the world’s first international standard for industrial 5G, “Industrial networks — 5G communication technologies — Generic requirements.” The standard was jointly proposed by China and Germany and was collaboratively developed by experts from multiple countries including the United States, France, and Japan, filling a gap in international standards for industrial 5G.
At present, the deep integration of 5G and industry has become a core engine driving the global industrial transformation toward digitization, networking, and intelligence. The standard focuses on the basic architecture, operating mechanisms, and maintenance management of 5G networks in industrial field applications. It provides a range of use-case scenarios for the integration of 5G with industrial sites and applies to the full lifecycle of 5G industrial wireless communication systems — from planning, design, and construction to optimization — offering a unified technical specification for domestic and international users, design organizations, and equipment manufacturers deploying and applying 5G technology in industrial environments.
The release of this standard marks a milestone international achievement for China in the field of “5G+industry” integration, contributing Chinese expertise and solutions to the digital transformation of global manufacturing.
